Concrete has been used for design for thousands of years and it is this foundation of design that instills a sense of history and artisan craftsmanship when you see a wonderfully designed concrete piece. Concrete is almost infinitively malleable and expressive in its design. This is the beauty of the product, the ease in which it takes on the designs of its creator makes its infinitely expressive and customizable. There are things you can do with concrete that are not possible with any other counter top material.
Another excellent feature of using concrete in the home and office is the potentially small impact it can have on the environment. Concrete can be an inherently green product through its composition and sourcing of components in it, despite the amount of energy it takes to make it. The aggregate, sand, and cement used in the creation of Concrete Cat pieces are locally sourced and because of this there carbon footprint for shipping is greatly reduced over granite and marble which are shipped form overseas from as far as Asian, India, and Europe. We support local business whenever possible and are proud to say over 95% of our product is locally sourced.
To add to this our concrete left overs are recycled and re-purposed to reduce the amount of waste we produce, our recycled concrete is used for such things as road crush, sidewalk fill, dock anchors and some is even used in the creating of new concrete pieces. We believe that making a “green” product can only done through proper management and responsibility within a local company, this onus cannot be placed on anyone other than the local consumer and business.
