Real Concrete
Why is it important to use traditional wet cast concrete?
It’s the best solid surface I can offer you. The architectural concrete detailing industry has adopted many faux concretes that do not have the same performance as traditional concrete. Sure these concrete variants might be able to do some really interesting and thin, and they may be easier to work with. But these are both traits that are great for the installer and mean a significant decrease in the feel and performance for the client.
Our work is a tactile experience. We design counters and furnishings to be used not just looked at. Faux concretes don’t feel like real stone, they don’t wear the same, and they are not produced to the same engineering standards. Real concrete can span large distances unsupported, faux concrete not so much. Real concrete is extremely easy to recycle, most faux concrete contain so much synthetic fibers that recycling them is not only hazardous but in many cases just not cost effective.
Tones
We custom mix 3 distinct tones. Your project will stay within the colour tone we mix but it will have a wide spectrum of saturation within that tone. As it ages it will naturally change in tone depending on usage. This aspect of our concrete is a part of what it makes our work so unmistakable. Concrete Cat projects are very recognizable, that’s why our clients love our work.

Finishes
We have two. Basic and Hand Honed. The Hand Honed is laborious but it’s worth it. Two things that set Concrete Cat apart from all our competitors is unique dying process and our custom Hand Honed finish. For the most part it cannot be replicated. Not because of any patent but because most people do not want to take the time to do the type of hand finishing in the studio. Yes we could use a huge polishing machine and table to give us a perfectly uniform surface but it wouldn’t be better. Our surfaces still look man-made, everything else looks like it came out of machine.
